Oz-Pol English is an ESL service for Polish immigrants to Australia. Its user community is new immigrants to Australia from Poland that have limited English language skills. There is an expectation that users will have some level of computer literacy. Its demographic focus is twenty-five years old and up. Oz-Pol English only provides content for adults; its primary focus is on preparing them to enter society and the workforce. Oz-Pol is prepared to work with English language skills of all levels.
The site is separated into three main areas: About (this page), Lesson Materials (and Instructors), and the Members’ Directory (with the Forum, and Calendar). Some learning materials have been borrowed from external resources as examples of the type of information that Oz-Pol would provide. Sources are listed in the References section of this About page.
The lesson materials consist of links to basic ESL documents that can start the users on the learning journey. Lessons haven’t been broken down into levels. In theory, more detailed information would be added to the site as it goes along, depending on popularity and user reception. There are also examples of instructional videos that users could watch and respond to.
The instructors’ pages show some personal information about the teachers as well as contact information and hours of availability. The Members’ Directory is an example of what an actual members’ directory would look like; the usernames are in blue which indicate that they are links to the person’s full profile. Weebly’s forum tool was used to set up the forum. The calendar was embedded from Google. There is also a contact function on the More Services page for users to reach out easier.
